Joe Fraser Launches Campaign for U.S. Senate Race in Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS – Today, Navy Commander (Ret) Joe Fraser announced his bid for the United States Senate in Minnesota, seeking to flip the seat held by failed presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar.

“The very definition of insanity is maintaining the status quo and hoping for change,” Fraser said in a statement announcing his bid for the U.S. Senate. “Despite spending 18 years in office, Amy Klobuchar hasn’t made the lives of Minnesotans any better – in fact it’s gotten worse. The price of groceries, gas, and medicine have skyrocketed, and the American dream has become harder to reach. The cost of public education is soaring, yet our school system ranks 16th best in the world. After honorably serving our country in the U.S. Navy for almost 26 years, I’m running for the U.S. Senate to continue my life of service for the people of Minnesota. We must work to put an end to the crises at our borders, to tackle rising consumer prices and our historic national debt, and to ensure our streets and country are safe from those who wish to cause us harm.”

The son of a teacher and small business owner, Fraser is a graduate of Texas A&M University. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for almost 26 years as an Intelligence Specialist and commissioned Intelligence Officer. His service consisted of operational assignments to Europe, the Far East, and the Middle East in support of Operations Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. Closer to home, he provided humanitarian aid and assistance to Haiti as part of Operation Unified Response. He completed tours of duty in the Pentagon and other various assignments in Virginia and Maryland.

Following his service, Fraser dived into the private sector working with small and large businesses, and is currently an Executive Director/Chief of Staff in the banking industry. In his spare time, Fraser volunteers with the Minnesota Council of the Navy League of the United States, which elected him President in October 2022.

He is married to his wife of 27 years, Rhonda Whitney, a Navy veteran and together they have a daughter who is a senior at Mound-Westonka High School. They reside in Minnetrista, Minnesota.
